OVERVIEW:
Back on October 18, 2022, The Mash and Journey Whiskey Club sat down with special guest Master Blender Keffrey Karlovitch, Founder of KAIYO Japanese whiskey to select our first cask-strength Japanese whiskey single barrels! These barrels are 100% Mizunara Cask matured at sea for 10 years, non-chill filtered, and bottled at cask strength. After tasting through three completelydifferent samples we landed on barrels#1108and #1145 which are sister barrels and extremelysimilar.
TASTING NOTES:
These special barrels are flavor bombs! On the nose brings sandalwood, burnt toffee, sea salt, white chocolate, and a hint of toasted coconut. Once you give this whisky some time to open up, the palate brings a heavy punch of cream soda, heavily salted caramel, chocolate, brewed soy sauce, and savory spices!
