Accenti – Pet Nat White Blend – Napa Valley

Overview:Focused on regeneratively farming tiny vineyards in Napa Valley and minimalist winemaking, James and Lorenza Allen channel their global experiences to make wines with balance, substance, and soul. They believe the accents of wine are best revealed by understanding its roots.

Wanderlust drove both curious minds to a combined six universities and twenty wineries across fifteen regions in seven countries, where they learned from the wisdom of winemaking masters and honed their individual styles. But it wasn’t until they met while studying in France that the magic happened. Friendship led to romance years later and a wedding on the vineyard one warm harvest evening between punchdowns. Since then, they??ve collaborated on every grape, wine, and label.

Lorenza and James farm four vineyards around Napa Valley – no tractor, no irrigation, and no tilling. They treat each vine like a bonsai and use cover crops to replenish the soil each winter. To combat climate change they employ regenerative and organic methods as well as lightweight glass, carbon-capturing natural cork, and good old-fashioned activism.

Our second adventure in Ancestral Method sparkling wine made for some crazy nights during harvest. Three heroic helpers stayed at the winery past midnight to bottle it with us at the perfect moment – when fermentation was almost finished and the wine was cold enough to minimize lees and foam.

The result is like a time capsule filled with delicious smells of fermenting Barbera, Riesling, and Verdelho. The blend was a combination of dreams and necessity: balancing powerful fermentations with slower and finished ones allowed us to bottle a wine with the right amount of bubbles and minimal sediment.

Tasting Notes: Strawberry cream and pastry dough on the nose leads to poached pear and wildflower honey on the palate. Citrus and lemon zest leave the tongue fresh and ready for another sip. The flavors shift from fruity to floral with each new glass.
