Overview: The Garnacha de Arag??n, the oldest clone of Garnacha in the world, comes from over 150 small vineyards sites surrounding the quiet town of Mun??brega within the Calatayud DO. The vines were planted between 1925 and 1990 upon soils from the Miocene rich in iron, which include red slate, gravel, and limestone & clay loam respectively. The vineyards are traditionally dry-farmed and practicing organic. The fruit is hand-harvested and stored in small baskets. The bunches are destemmed and the whole berries are transferred to 5,000L stainless steel and polymer vats. Fermentation is started with a pied de cuve and maceration lasts for no longer than eight days. The wine is pressed in a vertical basket & pneumatic press over the course of eight hours. The wine ages for 18 months sur lie in 8-year-old French oak.
Tasting Notes: Round, smooth and dense, this red shows harmony and balance. Plum and blackberry flavors mingle with black olive, toast and mineral notes, supported by well-integrated tannins and fresh acidity, leaving a lovely floral finish. Drink now through 2027
