Overview: Traditionally used in Bordeaux-style blends, this grape varietal also shines in single-verietal wines. We’ve found that the Paso Robles appellation imparts a unique quality to our Petit Verdot, balancing perfectly between the smoothness found in Petit Verdot grown in colder climates and the jamminess found in Petit Verdot grown in hotter climates. After aging in French and American barrels for 24 months, our wine reveals ripe flavors of black plum and currant with accents of vanilla and dark chocolate. Structured tannins provide texture and depth with a lengthy finish.
Opaque Petit Verdot comes only from the best lots that our estate vineyards have to offer. Small lots are picked and fermented individually with minimal intervention to allow the true expression of the soil and climate. The wines are matured in a unique selection of hand-crafted French and American oak barrels.
Tasting Notes: Hearty aromas of black currant, creamy caramel and light lavender invite the nose into this bottling. It lands with a thick presence on the full-bodied palate, where the rich fruit and cocoa flavors are balanced by firm tannins and a slightly bitter edge.
Pairing: Our Petit Verdot pairs excellently with spiced meats and pungent cheeses. We suggest you try it with lamb kabobs, an aged brie, or even mole negro with chicken.
