Overview: Our San Simeon Petite Sirah is sourced from 3 vineyards in the Paso Robles appellation, including Maddalena and Stefano in the El Pomar AVA, and Riboli Creston in the Creston District. Petite Sirah is a dark-skinned grape that is often used for blending, but when grown in the proper soils and climate this varietal can be magnificent on its own. Our Petite Sirah vines benefit from a climate that features warm, sunny days, cool afternoon breezes and even cooler nights during the growing season. Rolling hills with well-drained soils produce highly concentrated grapes which translate to intense, powerful wines. 2019 was a cool vintage across Paso Robles, giving the fruit plenty of time to develop color, flavor, acid and tannin.
Tasting Notes: Aromas of blackberry, ripe plum, and thyme greet the nose. Aging in French and American oak barrels contributes notes of vanilla and oak spice. The mouthfeel is jammy and full-bodied. Firm tannins provide structure as the flavors build to a lengthy finish.
Pairing: Enjoy San Simeon Petite Sirah with hearty meat dishes like Oso Buco or short ribs.
